Some psychiatric comorbidity among patients with substance abuse disorder related to pregabalin

Abstract Background Pregabalin abuse is increasing worldwide and frequently comorbid with another psychiatric disorders including generalized anxiety, major depression, personality disorders, suicide. Eighty-three patients meeting DSM-IV criteria for substance related to pregabalin were identified from the addiction clinic of El Khanka Psychiatric Hospital in Egypt this observational cross-sectional study. We aimed assess clinical characteristics disorder pregabalin, suicidal ideation, comorbidities associated them. All participants subjected semi-structured interview designed collect identify sociodemographic data patterns substances use, Structured Clinical Interview axis I diagnose depression II diagnosis borderline antisocial Addiction Severity Index, Beck Depressive Inventory, Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale, Scale Suicidal Ideation urine screening test other substances. Results Forty-seven percent studied group had anxiety disorder, 74.7% some both 78.3% 37.3% disorders.
